Mormonism: the Godhead

Mormonism: the Godhead

Mormonism and the Godhead is "God'' including three separate personages: God the Father, God the Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. The Father and the Son have individual physical bodies whereas the Holy Ghost is a personage of spirit. Prophets who have seen God the Father (Elohim) and the Resurrected Christ testify of Them having a body of flesh and bone. No sinful or "natural" man has seen God, but many righteous men/prophets have seen God.

Mormonism teaches that Elohim is the father of us all; Jesus Christ (or Jehovah during His pre-mortal life of the Old Testament) is our eldest spiritual brother. Just as we are spirit children of God the Father, Jesus Christ was first His spirit son, then His only Begotten Son on earth. Since we are sons and daughters of God and spirit siblings to Christ, we are created in Their image, having mortal bodies of flesh and bone.

Jesus Christ works under the direction of God, the Father, and is one with him in purpose and the work of our salvation.  There are three of the godhead -- a trinity -- but They are individual, separate personages working together as one.

Mormonism has clearly stated articles of faith. The first Article of faith says, "We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost." Again, it's three personages, working together in unity as one.
