Mormonism: Life After Death
Mormonism beliefs about what happens after we die are more specific than what other religions teach. Mormonism gets its additional details from additional scriptures revealed in latter days which supports life after death references we have in the Holy Bible.
Mormonism knows that there is life after death; that although our mortal bodies age, get sick and die, our spirits (which were created before we were born) continue to live.
Our spirit selves go to either two places: paradise or spirit prison. Paradise is a place of peace and rest for those people who lived according to their best conscience. Spirit prison are for those people who lived wickedly or who did not have the opportunity to learn about Christ and accept Christ's teachings. Spirit people in spirit prison will be taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ and have the opportunity to accept Christ as their Savior... or not.
Spirits stay in either of these two realms until the resurrection and judgment of our lives. At the juncture of resurrection and judgment, each immortal being will be assigned to one of three glories for their eternal reward: the Celestial, Terrestial, or Telestial kingdoms. God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ live in the Celestial Kingdom; Christ visits the Terrestial Kingdom; God does not visit the Telestial Kingdom although it is a reward of light to those who are assigned there.
I hope to receive enough grace and mercy from my Savior to be assigned to the Celestial Kingdom. I want to be able to live in their strong spirit of love and continue to increase my learning for eternity.
